The high-volume nature of consumer business meant this legal function was buried by a high volume of NDAs, Procurement Agreements, Sponsorship Agreements and Influencer Agreements. As a result, strategic and high-risk activities were going unsupported and the business felt Legal was a bottleneck. Perhaps more concerning often agreements went missing after they were signed.
Together with our client, we deployed a number of tailored self-service apps on Legal Gateway that produced perfectly drafted agreements with no legal involvement. Each app had an associated workflow to manage approval or risk steps, was integrated with Docusign for e-signatures, and automatically ported through to The Gateway’s propriety Document Management System – to store, report and create an audit trail on the process.
What once took the business weeks, now takes minutes. The legal function can now focus on the important stuff, while ensuring each agreement is automatically stored and managed through the platform. As the GC said ‘for the first time the Legal Function is now considered innovative’.
